BRYAN TARKA
OWNER/STYLIST
Meet Bryan (he/him), originally from Maryland, Bryan has found their home in Baltimore for the past 8 years. With a career spanning since 2016, and after opening CULTIVATE in 2024, Bryan has honed his skills and expertise in creating effortless blondes and hair that both looks and feels lived-in with natural movement.

When it comes to hair specialties, Bryan’s true passion lies in perfecting his blonding techniques and pursuing editorial styling. Whether it's a seamless grow out on a blonde or getting the cleanest, tightest ponytail for the runway, Bryan always wants to challenge himself to do it better than he did before.
​
Bryan’s essential hair product is Mr Smith's Foundation, as it creates the perfect base to build a style upon, provides heat and UV protection, and is great on all hair types.
​
His favorite part of being a hairstylist is getting to really transform someone's look, sometimes with the most subtle of details. Hair is the only accessory you can never take off so it carries that much more power.

Among his favorite hair education events and experiences, Bryan had to opportunity to work New York Fashion Week multiple times, most recently in the fall of 2024 as well as attending AURA by REVERIE in Austin, Texas in 2024
JOSH POWELL
STYLIST
Meet Josh (he/they), originally from St. Augustine, Florida, has found their home in Baltimore for the past 14 years. With a career spanning since 2015. Josh has honed their skills and expertise in making sure your hair is a true reflection of your personality and style.

When it comes to hair specialties, Josh’s passion lies in the world of hair extensions & customized color. From high maintenance platinum blonde to effortless lived in brunette looks or giving you the length and fullness you’ve always desired Josh will work with you to achieve your dream hair.
​
Josh’s essential hair product is Milk by Reverie; a product that is foundational to locking in moisture and keeping your style as frizz free as possible while also being UV and heat protective. Milk is also great to reanimate your texture in between washes.
​
Josh has always been passionate about working with people, making each experience personalized in every way. Your hair is the crown you never take off and even if it’s the most simplest look, it is still a work of art.

Among their favorite hair education events and experiences, Josh has had the opportunity to be featured on stage as a platform artist for multiple Elevate hair show events most recently in the summer ‘24 as well as a multi day intensive hand-tied extension program by The Luna Method.


SKYLAR BRUNZELL
STYLIST
Meet Skylar (she/her), originally from Los Angeles, has found her home in Baltimore for the past 4 years. With a career spanning since 2023, Skylar has honed their skills and expertise in creating lived in looks and vivid colors.
When it comes to hair specialties, Skylar’s true passion lies in hand painting and creative colors. Having always loved painting these services feel like an extension of that medium and in a way that can be tailored to someone’s style and personality.
Skylar’s essential hair product is The Foundation by Mr Smith, as a big fan of bangs, this product is perfect for low maintenance polished fringe.
Doing hair for Skylar has always meant so much about creative collaboration, with clients, as well as others around to learn from and find inspiration. Cultivate has really made that such a dream to reality.
Among their top three favorite hair education events and experiences, Aura- Left Brain event in Austin, Reverie class with Garrett Markenson, and a blonding class in Philly with Norman Boulton.
RACHEL WEBER
STYLIST
Meet Rachel, she/her, originally from Leonardtown, recently relocated to Baltimore. With a career spanning since 2018, Rachel has honed their skills and expertise in creating lived-in, dimensional hair color, as well as soft textured haircuts & styles.

When it comes to hair specialties, Rachel’s true passion lies in enhancing her guests natural hair color by adding dimension through various techniques; including balayage, highlights, lowlights, and color melting, to create effortless low-maintenance looks. She focuses on creating soft grow-outs & maintaining the health of the hair, allowing guests to get the most out of their service & go longer between appointments.

Rachel’s essential hair product is Mr. Smith Serum, which contains 3 types of hydrating and nourishing oils that promote stronger, healthier hair, while providing added heat and UV protection.
​
Rachel’s favorite part of being a hairstylist is forming meaningful connections with her guests both behind the chair and beyond. She loves the comraderie of the industry and the sense of community Cultivate has created. She is grateful to be apart of a team of like-minded artists who continue to inspire & support her in her career.

Rachel has recently transitioned into the clean haircare world after discovering her passion for wellness & sustainability. She has spent the past year working with O&M, Mr.Smith, and other clean brands while educating herself about the importance of using cleaner ingredients and establishing sustainable practices within the industry.

SALON COORDINATOR
Meet Shawn (he/they), originally from Philadelphia, has found their home in Baltimore for the past 5 years. With a customer service and retail merchandising career spanning over 10 years, Shawn has used their experiences to perfect product displays and excel with guest interactions.

Shawn’s essential hair product is Hymn by Reverie, the versatility of the product makes it easy to use for daily styling.

Shawn’s favorite part of working at Cultivate Hair Company is getting to know all of our clients and ensuring every guest has a first class experience to make the time spent at Cultivate Hair Company both relaxing and luxurious.
